Most of us hear the word “Carrera” and see distinctive timepieces with a stopwatch. Nothing unusual. It is thanks to Jacek W. Heuer, the great-grandson of the company’s founder, who, as an avid fan of motorsports, presented in the 1960s a model with a chronograph, distinguished by very high readability of indications. The beginning of the 21st century saw the expansion of the Carrera line with new, 3-pointer models. In the TAG Heuer watches without a stopwatch, he still focused on elegant form, comfort and – above all – legibility. Now the Swiss have decided to facelift this part of the collection and show 13 new items. All of them are stylistically based on the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02 model presented last year.
TAG Heuer Carrera Date 39 mm
The first model – the TAG Heuer Carrera Date – will be available in a 39mm case and 4 dial variants. The blue and silver ones are decorated with sunburst, and the black ones – offered with rhodium-plated or rose gold-plated elements such as indices and hands – are decorated with a snail pattern.
The whole thing is secured from the top by a slightly convex sapphire glass with double anti-reflection, and from the bottom a glass case back through which the Caliber 5 mechanism can be seen. 38 hours of power reserve. Its indications are limited to hours, minutes, seconds and the date, the window of which – surrounded by a frame – can be seen at 6.
The 100 m waterproof case TAG Heuer has combined with a bracelet whose links form the letters H joined together. The 39 mm Carrera Date will cost PLN 11,900 or – in the case of references with gold-coated elements – PLN 12,800.
TAG Heuer Carrera GMT Date 41 mm
Another new feature is a variant with a blue dial and a time indicator in the second zone. The GMT function has been implemented classically, using an additional, centrally mounted hand with red outlined and a bit of Super-LumiNova triangular tip. Associated with the needle is an outer, 24-hour, two-color ring (the light part represents the day and the dark part represents the night). As before, the dial has indices – including a double one for the hour. 12 – and stylistically matching tips.
This time the Caliber 7, the ETA 2892-A2, was used as the drive. Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz and decorated with incl. scabbling and Geneva stripes, the mechanism is able to provide a power reserve of 46 hours. It was closed in a 100 m waterproof steel envelope with a diameter of 41 mm. The TAG Heuer Carrera GMT Date 41 mm model will be sold on a steel bracelet, and the price is set at PLN 13,950.
TAG Heuer Carrera Day Date 41 mm
If the date display is not enough for you, TAG Heuer has also prepared a variant with additional day indication. Both are visible in the framed windows at 3., and Caliber 5 is responsible for their correct operation. The watch will be available with 4 dial options – the same as in the case of the Date model, but the version with a white dial will go on sale not on a bracelet, but on a brown, leather alligator strap.
The price on the tag is PLN 12,800 or – for a model with gold-coated elements – PLN 13,700.
TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29 mm
With women in mind, fake TAG Heuer has prepared 4 Carrera variants with 29 mm steel cases. The watch will be offered with a mother-of-pearl dial or a blue sunburst dial. Each of them to choose from with classic, steel, applied indexes or 11 diamonds placed in their place.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29 mm will be powered by the Caliber 9, a 4Hz automatic movement with an approximate 40-hour power reserve.
The purchase of a women’s model costs PLN 10,100 or – in the case of the version with diamond indices – PLN 14,400.
Ryan Gosling becomes TAG Heuer brand ambassador
On the occasion of the presentation of the three-hand models from the Carrera line, TAG Heuer announced the start of cooperation with Ryan Gosling. An actor known from films such as Drive or La La Land will be the official ambassador of the Swiss brand from now on.
