Wednesday Morning Find: A Vintage Fake IWC Ingenieur With Original Bracelet, Papers, And Caseback Tool
The IWC Ingenieur is something of a cult-classic. It is one of the few really collectible vintage IWC wristwatches, along with the original Aquatimer and Mark XI. The original Ingenieur launched in 1955 with an automatic caliber housed in a soft-iron cage to protect against magnetic fields (think competitor replica watches to Rolex’s Milgauss and Omega’s Railmaster). The technical development of the Ingenieur movements would fall under Albert Pellaton, and the Pellaton IWC movements are regarded as some of the most robust of the 20th century.
In 1967, the second generation of the IWC Ingenieur was introduced, and that is exactly what we’ve found for you today. But this vintage Ingenieur has some really attractive traits that you don’t often see with vintage Ingy’s. First, it has a black dial, which is slightly less common than the silver dial version. Second, it features the original IWC Gay Freres bracelet (GF made bracelets for everyone back then, including Rolex, Heuer, and the famous bracelet of the original AP Royal Oak 5402).
On top of the black dial and original bracelet, this Ingenieur actually comes with the original caseback tool and original document of sales from 1970. The price of this Ingenieur? 361 Swiss Francs, or approximately $84. Not bad right?
This complete vintage fake IWC Ingenieur is on ebay at $6000 right now, with the auction ending later today. To view this auction, click here. Oh, and if you’re looking for a less expensive vintage Ingenieur (though without a date function and all the accoutrement,) click here.
